Product description:

Air consists mainly of nitrogen at about 78% with oxygen at 21%, there being trace gases such as argon. The basic principle is the removal of nitrogen from air by its adsorption by a molecular sieve, leaving the oxygen available for use.

This is achieved by compressing air which is passed through a “zeolite tower” filled with aluminium silicate. Nitrogen is adsorbed onto these granules, a reversible reaction and not a chemical reaction (as occurs between carbon dioxide & soda-lime).

The resulting gas that flows out from the tower contains about 93% oxygen. As the zeolite tower becomes quickly saturated by nitrogen within a few seconds, the system switches to a second zeolite tower to maintain a constant flow of oxygen.

At this point, the first tower is vented to atmosphere and the adsorbed nitrogen is quickly released and expelled. As quickly as it became saturated with nitrogen so the granules release the nitrogen and become fully capable of adsorbing nitrogen once again.

Thus all that is required are two towers which regularly switch from one to the other to keep up a steady flow of oxygen. A small reservoir tank downstream of the towers stores enough oxygen for several minutes. The electrical power consumption is low at 300-400 watts.
